“Look Mom… I Grew Up And Joined A Tribe” – 3 Reasons You Should Too

by Yo on

Look Mom... I Grew Up And Joined A Tribe 3 Reasons You Should TooCan you actually see yourself telling your mom that?

What do you think her reaction would be?

I can tell you what my mom’s reaction was… She said, “Ok son, if that’s what you want to do… I will support you in any any way that I can.“  What an awesome mother I have right? ;)

After I got done explaining to her that it wasn’t what she thought… She was like, “that sounds like a beautiful thing.  A group of people banding together for one common goal.  I see why it’s called a Tribe now.”

It made sense to my mom so it should make sense to you right?  If you’re new to blogging or even a seasoned blogger, getting your content out there and creating a loyal following should be your main objective… but if you’re going at it alone then you might want to think about joining a Tribe.

A Tribe is basically a content syndication group where everyone’s objective is simple…  To help promote each others content.  You’ve heard the acronym T.E.A.M right?  Together Everyone Achieves More – and it couldn’t be any more true with a Tribe Syndication group.

So obviously that’s the main reason people join a Tribe… but I want to share with you a three other not so obvious reasons that you need to join a Tribe. (If you want to participate in this ‘New Social Media’ that is…)

Reason #1 – To Educate Yourself, Others, And To Accumulate More Value

Most people think it’s all about getting more traffic to your content and sharing other peoples content – which it is… but if you are participating in the Tribes you better gosh darn be learning a thing of two from others!

Reason #2 – To Build Rock Solid Relationships And Potential Partnerships

I can personal attest to this.  Some of my best relationships in this industry are as a result of being in a Tribe or a content syndication group… and I know that future partnerships or Joint Ventures will also come about from these relationships that I’ve created.

Reason # 3 – So You Can Tell Your Mom You Grew Up And Joined A Tribe Of Course…

I’m kidding or am I? :)

No seriously, joining a tribe can be one of the fastest ways to brand yourself. The sheer nature of the syndication can assist you in becoming a household name way faster then any other way that I know of because of how highly leveraged it is… and this day and age, you should know that people really don’t give a damn about your products or your ‘opportunity’ – they want to know how you can help them and what type of value you have to offer.

With that being said…

I actually participate in quite a few Tribes.  However, if I had to pick just one… my answer would hands down be Katie Freiling’s Unified Tribe.  It’s brought me the greatest amount of exposure, leads, and traffic in the shortest amount of time.

You can actually see the Unified Tribe in action here… and here’s what my traffic to my blog looked like after just a two days of participating in the Unified Tribe (491 visitors day 1 and 353 visitors day 2 = 844 visitors):

Yo,

This is rock solid advice. My traffic was out of control last month since
joining TUT.

I also believe joining other tribes on social media like Facebook. They have helped with traffic and getting my blog more exposure.

Thanks for sharing the information.

Have a great day my friend!!

Tommy D.

Yo Le June 15, 2010 at 5:41 am

I think each different tribe helps as well. The Facebook tribes help you get comments and the Unified Tribe just flat out gets you traffic and exposure like no other.

Always appreciate you stopping by Tommy.

Hey Yo,
I agree, a “tribe” is a great way to help everyone while helping everyone… and everyone learns & wins. How much better can this get? Thanks for sharing.

To Your Continued Success,
Bill

Yo Le June 15, 2010 at 2:13 pm

It's always about creating “win-win” relationships and that is the a name of the game for sure.

Always appreciate your comments and feedback my friend.

Hi Yo – joining the UT was one of the best things I did for my site – great way to lay it all out for those who are unfamiliar with the concept!

kelliefrazier June 15, 2010 at 3:20 pm

LOVE your picture Yo! I emphatically agree with you and I have my own stats to prove it as well. What a great way to introduce tribes to your community. Great job and I'd encourage everyone who wants to share with the world to find a tribe as well.

I love it, “Look Mom I joined a tribe!!!” :) However, these are some great reasons. The TEAM acronym is very useful when talking about working together.
Thanks,
Kathy

My Mom would say, I raised you better than that! haha It is ALL about the Unified Tribe! My blog traffic has doubled and my blog ranking has gone crazy! I love it. It's all about taking massive action and getting your stuff out there so people start to see who you are. Btw I love your comments on my blog, they always make me laugh :)

Yo Le June 16, 2010 at 5:12 pm

I agree with ya girl!

… and you are definitely taking MASSIVE action! Your Alexa ranking is dropping like crazy for sure.

Glad you like my comments and that they make you chuckle. :)

Yo Le June 16, 2010 at 5:15 pm

I'm all about headlines Kathy! ;)

I usually don't create any content until I have a pic I like and a catchy headline.

… as always, thanks for your comments and feedback.

Yo Le June 16, 2010 at 5:18 pm

HAHA! Thanks Kelly.

It's funny because I usually don't create any content until I have the perfect picture.

I've created some pretty awesome relationships thus far and have even brought on a few new business partners from it as well.

Thanks for stopping by and for your feedback.

Yo Le June 16, 2010 at 5:22 pm

Awesome Nacie!

It's the Easiest and Fastest way for someone new that is just getting started with their blog to get Massive Exposure and Traffic to their blog.

Look forward to seeing you around! ;)

Yo Le June 16, 2010 at 5:35 pm

Glad to hear that you mom would be proud too! ;)

Thanks for dropping by my friend.

Stacy June 16, 2010 at 8:29 pm

Great post, I love the title! :) The UT is wonderful! I started my blog there and my very first post got 11 tweets! I couldn't have had that kind of syndication otherwise!

steveshoemaker June 16, 2010 at 9:48 pm

Yo
I can really vouch for what your saying the tribe concept has really exploded my traffic and I watch my alexa ranking melting away daily. It is a commitment but well, well worth it. I see some great post and learn lots of new things everyday.

Amanda Marie June 17, 2010 at 1:50 am

Yep! The Unified Tribe is pretty freakin awesome! I've had similar traffic peaks due to the tribe as well! I've never been a part of such a like-minded, caring, and empowered community as the UT!

I got to meet you and so many other wonderful people! :) Tribe syndication is ABSOLUTELY the quickest way to build your brand online these days.

I appreciate all you do!

Staci Gauny June 17, 2010 at 2:00 am

Great post, Yo. So true too! I love my tribe (The Unified). :) It rocks!

Yo Le June 17, 2010 at 2:14 am

It's definitely a commitment Steve because it forces you to step out of your comfort zone to not only put out content on a regular basis… but to reciprocate and interact as well.

I'm also learning a ton my friend.

Yo Le June 17, 2010 at 2:17 am

Thanks Stacy!

I thought it would be a pretty catchy title. :)

Congrats on all the ReTweets and traffic!

Yo Le June 17, 2010 at 4:15 am

Get it girl! ;)

I appreciate you stopping by Staci.

John Stone June 17, 2010 at 2:52 pm

Yo,

Yes The Tribe is a very powerful concept. I'm honored to be a part of your tribe.

John

Yo Le June 17, 2010 at 5:59 pm

Likewise John.

Hey, are you coming out to Vegas for the No Excuses event?

Yo Le June 17, 2010 at 6:11 pm

Indeed it is!

It's funny how we both live in PA… but we will actually meet in another state – VEGAS! ;)

… again congrats to you for firing your boss. It's definitely an empowering moment in the journey.

I appreciate all that you do as well.

keyshabass June 17, 2010 at 8:43 pm

Thank Yo for sharing. I am considering the Unified Tribe myself. I won't sleep on it too long. Just read most of the comments and it appears the UT rocks for sure!

Yo Le June 18, 2010 at 5:11 am

Yeah, definitely don't sleep on it too long… that's traffic, leads, and potential sales that you are missing out on each and every day you wait.

I seriously could NOT think of a single CON on why NOT to join.

Thanks for stopping by Keysha.

Ryan Yokome June 18, 2010 at 5:49 am

Great post Yo!

For sure man, this is where it's at for exposure bro. I've seen my unique visits skyrocket and I've been able to connect with amazing people. And hey, the Affiliate program is sick! Katie Freiling rocks….

Peter Fuller MBA June 20, 2010 at 2:31 am

Hello Yo

I have only recently started participating in some FB tribes and I agree 100% with your Reason #1, I have learned quite a lot by reading all of these great blogs and made some new friends.

Yo Le June 20, 2010 at 12:31 pm

Glad you are seeing the value in educating yourself through other peoples content as well Peter.

Getting traffic to your content is great… but you can't ignore some of the other great benefits to being involved in a Tribe.

Thanks for your feedback and also for dropping by my friend.

Milena June 21, 2010 at 3:24 pm

Yo, you are absolutely right…
I was writing a blog post recently about teamwork and advantages of joining Tribes and for me its really the next serious step in our business..
As you say, not only to help our content go viral, after some time I don't even care for that any more.. Whats amazing, is that we are building quality community of people who knows business, who share their knowledge, where we can always learn new, very valuable things and where we build strong relationships.. I am sure, there are no better places to find future business partners.

Thank you for pointing out this important topic,
Stay great,

Pleasure speaking with you yesterday. Now let's make some things happen my friend. Keep taking massive and consistent action.

Tamra Trowbridge July 23, 2010 at 6:19 pm

Yo Le,

I have tons of content and in the process of syndicating them. Thank you for your advice to join a tribe.

And you know what, if you are taking the time to syndicate tribe member’s articles, you can’t help but stop to read and learn as you go.

Tamra
